What Makes a Rainbow? – There is a power point of the story at the bottom of the page. Put this on your computer and read the story with your child following along with the instructions below. Each slide has an audio file attached, once you have read the page play the audio. You do not have to play the whole song, play the song for as long as your child is interested in the item.

Something fluffy

Play the rabbit song on the power point.

Give the item to your child to explore, see if they like the fluffy item on different parts of their body.

Red items

e.g. red pepper, tomato, piece of clothing, scarf etc.

 

Play the ladybird song.

Show your child the red item, saying ‘red’ get them to touch, smell etc. depending on what the item is.

Orange items

e.g. orange, post it notes, clothing etc.

Play the fox song.

Show your child the orange item, saying ‘orange’ encourage your child to explore the item e.g. roll, squeeze, hold etc.

Yellow items

e.g. blanket, lemon, butter

Play the chick song.

Show your child the yellow item, saying ‘yellow’ encourage your child to explore the item e.g. feel, squeeze, smell etc.

Green items

e.g. peas, shampoo,

Play the frog song.

Show your child the green item, saying ‘green’ encourage your child to explore the item e.g. taste, hold, feel etc.

Blue items

e.g. gloves, sponge

Play the bird song.

Show your child the blue item, saying ‘blue’ encourage your child to explore the item e.g. roll, squeeze, hold etc.

Purple items

e.g. grapes, shoes, chocolate wrappers

Play the butterfly song.

Show your child the purple item, saying ‘purple’ encourage your child to explore the item e.g. roll, squeeze, listen etc.

Give the item to your child to explore, see if they like the fluffy item on different parts of their body.

Water play

Give your child the opportunity to explore water, this can be a bowl of water with bubbles in, or a water spray, whatever you have available.
