Sensory Exploration

Each week the children have opportunities to explore a wide range of sensory stimuli linked to the weekly theme.  These include smell, texture, sounds, visual stimuli and where appropriate to the child, taste.

As well as extending children's experiences, during these sessions, children can develop a range of different things including :

Communication skills - showing likes or dislikes, asking for "more" or for something to "finish" and choice making

Physical skills - Holding, feeling, pushing away or reaching for objects

Visual skills - Attending to stimuli, following moving stimuli or coordinated reaching for objects.
