This term our topic is all about Pirates!

We have been listening to a story all about Jake and The Neverland Pirates, in our story Jake goes on an adventure with his friends to find some treasure.

This term we are working on adding new core words to our vocabulary we will be listening to instructions and trying to use the words in, on, under, and top & bottom in them.

During cookery we have been looking at visual instructions and responding to an adults instructions to fill, empty, put things in, on top and on the bottom of.

Here we are filling our cups and then emptying them out to make sandcastle biscuits.

We then put a flag on top of our sandcastle and put squirty cream at the bottom.

During PE we've been going on a very exciting adventure with Jake and The Neverland Pirates. All the children love completing the obstacle course and were all so patient waiting their turn for a go, as well as helping their friends to get across!

Jake and The Neverland Pirate's Adventure!

Chestnut Class decided to take full advantage of the beautiful weather this week by taking their numeracy and literacy lessons outside!!!

We took a walk to B&M bargain where the children responded to verbal instructions to look for things which we needed for snack. Some of us were able to use our communication books to make a choice of what coloured juice we would like and which ice lollies we wanted! Everyone behaved very well in a very busy shop which has lots of exciting things on the shelves we walked all round the shop staying with an adult at all times and only putting things in the basket that we needed.

We then visited the park to continue to work on our on going target of responding to prepositions and core words. We listened to an adults instructions and ran to the top of the hill and then back to the bottom. Some of us were even using the words top and bottom in sentences when requesting to be pulled to the bottom of the hill on the tarpaulin.

A Pirate Adventure at New Brighton Beach.

To celebrate the end of half term and to finish our topic Chestnut Class took a trip to New Brighton Beach. Where we found The Black Pearl Pirate Ship! All the children loved exploring the ship and were so well behaved during the duration of our visit. We all enjoyed digging in the sand, running along the beach and playing pirates on our ship! Lots of the children were using really descriptive language whilst playing on the ship and were showing some really lovely play skills. Well Done Chestnut Class!!
