Chestnut Class

Hello and welcome to Chestnut Class!

 

 

This class page will fill you in on everything we have been getting up to at Millstead school - but be prepared WE ARE VERY BUSY!  In Chestnut class we have 10 children, 7 boys and 3 girls; Adam, Zeeman, Sam, Liam, Tony, Aidan, Sidiki, Leila, Hafsa and Alishba. We keep our 5 staff members on their toes!

Lizzie is our class teacher and she works together with Donna, Jackie, Lauren and Louise to help us achieve all of our goals, become more independent, explore the local community and to support our access to the curriculum.

Literacy - Cat in the Hat, Wacky Wednesday, A great day for UP and the Grinch.

NumeracyNumber recognition, sequencing, position and direction, handling data, mass and capacity, money, time and calculations

Knowledge and Understanding of the World - Looking at different events we will be celebrating; Christmas, New Year, Bonfire night. 

Cookery - Making a range of kebabs with fruits and vegetables. 

Music -  Exploring the different sounds animals make.

Art - Creating different animals using paper plates and a range of materials.

PE - Dance - following routines, developing movements.

Swimming - Independent changing and confidence in the water

Educational Visits - Pets at Home, PDSA, Lister fisheries and Rice Lane Farm.

We are so lucky to live in such a fantastic city.. So let's explore it!!!

 

During this term, we will be out and about on the school bus looking at all the different landmarks that our city has to offer. This week we joined our friends from Cedar class in Crosby. We spent time playing together at the park and then took it in turns to go for a little walk to collect sand to use during our story in Literacy.

18.09.19 - What a busy first few weeks here in Chestnut class!

 

We have not stopped! From forest school; horse riding; working on our independent skills out in the community; showing our new staff team how fantastic we are at cognition and learning and enjoying getting to know all our new class friends!

 

I think we are all going to enjoy this year together :)

Knowledge and Understanding of the World - Maps and locations, history of Liverpool, floating and sinking, testing materials and forces. 

Cookery - Liverpool tart, strawberry tarts, bread, Scouse pie, vegetable pie and Mocktails

Music -  All things  'Beatles' - listening, exploring and enjoying The Beatles.

Art - Creating the Liverpool skyline with a range of materials and making sculptures of famous Landmarks 

PE - Football - kicking and passing

Swimming - Independent changing and confidence in the water

Educational Visits - The Palm House, Sefton Park, Albert Docks, Chinese Arches, Crosby Beach and Everton View
