In Beech Class this year we have 12 children and 7 members of staff. The teacher is called Sarah and the learning support assistants are called Bev, Kayleigh, Bernie, Liam, Jayne and Rachel.
This half term in Beech class has been an exciting one! We have been learning all about Africa and we have been looking after our new class pets - Sid and Mr. Slow our African Land Snails. Jibrail and Jaydem choose to feed the snails an apple and a banana. They practised their cutting skills with great concentration!
VJ using speech to choose his lunch
VJ has been using his PECS sentence strip in the lunch hall to ask the canteen staff for his lunch. VJ chooses what he would like from the menu choice board and places the photograph on his strip then will pass the strip to the cook and say the sentence. VJ is working really hard each day to ask for his lunch. Well done VJ!!
Alphablocks game Some of the children have been playing this game to build words
Jibrail building sentences
Jibrail has been working on building 3 words sentences such as I hear ___ and I see ____. He initally began by going on a 'lion' hunt and verbally saying the sentences 'I see ___' and inserting the name of the animals he found around school. Jibrail has been learning to recognise the words and also to identify initial sounds in words. Below in a video of Jibrail building sentences to tell the adult what he can hear.
That's all from Beech Class this half term. Watch this space for next half term's activities. Our new topic is Superheroes - we are very excited to begin!
