Welcome to Alder class page. In our class we have 6 boys. Our teacher is called Gill and we also have Sara, Gemma, Connor and Laura to support us with the learning in class.
We like to work to a very structured routine in class and most mornings consist of a lot of sensory input, play based learning and lots and lots of fun. Our afternoons consist of developing our independent living skills and working on individual targets, this is done through swimming and rebound sessions, Immersive and sensory room interventions and most importantly our educational visits within the local community.
During the first half of the Autumn term, our focused topic was all about animals. The children had lots of opportunities to learn about these wonderful creatures through creative play and exploring the sensory trays with a range of animal resources in them. The children in Alder Class have been working on developing their engagement and interaction skills along with a firm focus on their transitioning in the community this term. We have enjoyed many trips to local pet shops and the children have thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of new furry friends.
"Celebrations" was the focused topic for the second part of the half term. The children have been learning about a wide range of exciting holidays and festivals. A different celebration was explored on a weekly based and these included:
The children have all worked extremely hard this term and we are all excited to continue the fun in the new year.
