Millstead Assessment Centre - Parents Information
As a Nursery/Infant provision, we currently have 25 full time places for pupils between the ages of 3 and 7 years. We aim to provide a happy, positive environment for children who may have learning difficulties, delayed communication skills and other associated problems.
Our provision is currently on two sites. Acorn & Blossom classes are sited at Croxteth Children’s Centre and accommodate our younger pupils and those for whom a mainstream site is too stimulating. The space at Croxteth includes external play areas that our children can access readily from their classrooms.
Our older pupils who have developed their social skills and can follow a more formal curriculum are accommodated in Cherry class at Barlows Primary School, Fazakerley.
Each class has a full time teacher and 3/4 support staff (dependent on children’s needs).
Pupils are admitted to our Assessment Centre after they have been referred to the local authority and/or issued with an Education and Health Care Plan.
Children that attend the Assessment Centre:

School Meals are free to all infant pupils. (We ask that families in receipt of income support register their eligibility online or via a council one stop shop).
Parents are asked to contribute 50p per week towards snack items – this can be paid weekly or half-termly.
When educational visits are made to support curricular work, parents may be asked to make a voluntary contribution – all children will be included on trips and visits.
Transport to/from the Assessment Centre is provided by the Local Authority for all pupils. Currently, minibuses with escorts are used.
Parents should take their child out to the vehicle each morning and collect them again each afternoon – please remember that our escorts need to remain on the transport with the other children.
If your child will be absent from school or will be returning after a period of absence then it is helpful if you inform school and the Travel Company.
If you have any issues relating to your child’s transport arrangements then please let school know or contact the local authority transport team directly on 0151 233 6513.
